Mo Thrash is a full time Government Affairs Consultant for many international corporations, state and national associations, and small individual companies, and he is the Government Affairs Director for the Atlanta law firm of McCalla Raymer. Mo has the unique experience of over 47 years of working with all state departments and agencies, negotiating and working with all members of the Georgia General Assembly, including the leadership of the House and Senate, and dealing day to day with the personal staff of the Governor and Lieutenant Governor. He takes great pride in his relationships and reputation among Georgia’s Congressional delegation in Washington D.C. He is also experienced in working with local government officials affiliated with cities and counties throughout Georgia.
Mo has been named “Top Independent Small Firm Lobbyist” in Georgia by James Magazine, a highly respected and the most read magazine dedicated to Georgia politics and the Capitol, and he has been named Top Lobbyist by his fellow lobbyists. The votes come from fellow lobbyists and legislators.
A graduate of the University of Georgia with a BBA degree in Management, Mo began an outstanding career as a residential realtor and homebuilder, receiving numerous awards in the real estate industry. Mo started his political consulting career in 1972 on behalf of the Georgia Association of Realtors and was named Georgia Realtor of the Year in 1978.
Mo has many civic involvements including being a Past Chairman of the Georgia Residential Finance Authority and the first appointee to the Georgia Homeless Trust Fund Commission. He has also served on the Georgia Board of Corrections. Presently, he serves as Immediate Past-Chairman of the Board of Camp Sunshine, an organization for children with cancer and leukemia. He has served Camp Sunshine as a Board member and Executive Committee member since its inception in 1983.

As far as state government, John has worked to effectively forge relationships with all members, staff, and leadership of the Georgia House, Senate, Governor’s office, Lt. Governor’s office, and every state department. Federally, his contacts and relationships with Georgia’s elected officials and Congressional staffs in Washington, DC are unique and effective, where John constantly achieves clients’ objectives. At the local level, John has experienced success and produces results for clients in working with local government officials affiliated with cities and counties.
John worked for the highly respected Georgia Automobile Dealers Association in the areas of government affairs and association management for over 15 years. He began his career under former State Representative Roger Hines, who then became the special aide and Messenger to the Speaker of the House. He started his government affairs career with Mo in 2003.
John graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in Speech Communication and Political Science, where he played football for the Bulldogs, was President of the Inter-Fraternity Council, graduated with Honors and was the speaker at graduation. He is an active volunteer in Camp Sunshine, an organization for children with cancer and leukemia. He has also served on numerous Boards including the Corporate Leadership Council for Fernbank Museum, Executive Committee of the Buckhead Council of Neighborhoods, Peachtree Hills Civic Association Board of Directors, and a committee that selects scholarship recipients every year from his former high school, Pebblebrook, in Mableton, Ga. John resides with his wife and children in Atlanta.
